Detailed Profile
Snowseekers Ski and Snowboard Club began as the Waukegan Snow Birds club in 1961, then evolving to the Waukegan Ski Club in 1964, and finally settling on Snowseekers Ski Club in 1982. We currently reside in Libertyville, but have members around the country.
Our main activities are skiing and snowboarding. To that end we offer one western trip, sometimes two, each season. We also offer at least one Midwest trip.
Because we have a mix of families, singles and couples we are able to get appropriate, comfortable accommodations for all trip participants at a great price. We have special relationships with some resorts and trip providers. Being one of the many affiliates of the Chicago Metropolitan Ski Council, our members also have opportunities for other activities and trips. As a year-round social group, we enjoy parties, picnicing, biking, golfing, sightseeing and other off season activities.
Our membership ranges from toddlers thru seniors. Members must be 21, but children with parents are welcome at all of our functions. We have members who timidly ski and ride on beginner runs to those who ski double blacks and dense glades. We’ve even had national and international racing competitors. We typically have 60 to 100 members. Dues are $30-single, $40-family.
Meetings
The Snowseekers Ski/Snowboard Club holds meetings every month during the ski season — September through April — begins at 7p.m. at a location to be determined for 2022/2023. Please stay tuned here. Guests are welcome to attend any club meeting, but membership is required to participate in trips and social events.
At each meeting there is usually a program demonstrating the latest in ski equipment, how to improve your skiing techniques, or a presentation from a member telling about and showing video/slides of a recent spectacular trip they recently returned from.
